More is caught than taught
At home, we are our children’s first and most important teachers. Every day we are helping them grow cognitively — whether it’s learning to draw arms, legs, and faces on their stick figures, or classifying objects by category and understanding the world around them. These small but meaningful lessons build the foundation for a lifetime of learning.
But as parents and tutors, we must remember: more is caught than taught.
Our children are always watching. They learn from the way we live. When we humble ourselves, when we apologize after losing our cool, when we ask for forgiveness, we are teaching them that no one is perfect — and that humility and grace matter. The habits we model each day — tackling our responsibilities, speaking kindly, starting our mornings with purpose — are quietly shaping their character.
Preschool is a beautiful extension of what begins at home. While cognitive growth continues, our focus is especially on social development. Here, children learn to:
